Sarah Geronimo for Record Breaker Concert Tour

I’m a HUGE fan of Sarah Geronimo! So when Mommy D (also known as Mommy Divine – her mom) called me to do her make up for one of her concert tours, I was filled with joyful excitement. I’m a fan because Sarah can do almost anything – she’s a Filipino recording artist, an actress, and dancer. She’s not only very talented, her story to success is also one in a million.

Sarah started her official debut in show business after having won the Star for a Night singing competition. Followed by numerous albums, concerts, movies, and shows, Sarah is now where she is all because of pure talent, handwork, determination, and proper guidance from her parents.

I’m a fan of her talent and her story.

Here are some behind the scenes with Sarah..

This was taken in Sarah's dressing room after the concert. Beyonce (Sarah's hairstylist, at the left) and I had to do one more retouch for the press, photographers, and hundreds of fans.

This was taken at another concert tour, behind the curtains of the stage. Here we were waiting for her next appearance. In between songs, Sarah is able to rest while Beyonce and I do a quick retouch.

Here are some photos of the concert, Sarah in action..

Sarah getting ready to do Michael Jackson's They Don't Really Care About Us - my favorite performance of the night.

The explosion of confetti was a surprise everyone applauded to. The scream of the crowd was deafening. What a concert!

MyPhone Ad Campaign

MyPhone Ad Campaign was one of the biggest shoots I did last 2011. It featured ABS-CBN, GMA7, and TV5 young stars all in one shoot! I was in charge of make up and hair for all the GMA7 artists but because I only have 2 hands, I asked a few friends to come help me out with the shoot. I want to thank Chinky Tanjanco and Ish Sison for accepting this project with me. I enjoy what I do and it’s even more fun when you get to do it with friends who share the same passion.

Here are some of the photos from the shoot..

Why I Blog

I decided to blog because I realized that one day my memory will fail me. Heck I can’t remember the name of the last movie I watched, or the restaurant I ate in last week. When I try and think back about what I did in gradeshool, there are bits and pieces that are missing. I feel like our memory doesn’t have unlimited space and that anything that’s happened 10 years ago will slowly disappear – Scary!! Ill turn 50 and I’ll forget everything that’s happened to me when I was in my 20’s. Try asking your dad if he remembers the plate number of his first car. Or ask your mom if she remembers what gift she received on her 18th birthday. You’ll be surprised with how much they have left of those memories.

This blog will not have all the answers to your make up questions. It does not aim to be the bible of the beauty industry. It is not any make up artist’s go to book and it definitely will not claim to be perfect. It does not contain all the make up tricks and secrets of the trade. This blog is simply my way of remembering how much I enjoyed doing what I love to do. This blog is my extended memory, something I can read over and over again, just in case I’m old and wrinkly and have forgotten how awesome life was.

In the end we are all mere stories. I want to remember the people I’ve met, the products I’ve used, and looks I’ve created. I want to remember how young and brave I was, how young and foolish too.

I choose to want to remember my story and that is why I started this blog.

Smart

Working on photoshoots is a whole new ball game. Unlike weddings that capture moments, photoshoots create moments that should tell a story in a single photo. That single photo is what they turn into a billboard and print into an ad that will be published in magazines, newspaper, and brochures. There is a lot of time involved in creating a story. Client and agency must meet weeks before the shoot, stylists follow mood boards while make up artists and hairstylists create designs that will best execute the storyboard.

When I was called to do a print ad with Smart and Rhian Ramos, the new endorser, I was ecstatic because I knew I would be working with the best in the industry. For a client as big as Smart and for an agency as respectable as DM9 Jayme Syfu I knew that there would be no room for mistakes and that both client and agency would be on point with the results of the photoshoot.

The storyboard was emailed to me a few days before the shoot. I remember waiting for the email because I wanted to have enough time to prepare for the shoot. And when I found out that Xander Angeles was going to be the photographer, all the more I had to prepare because Xander likes everything perfect.

Here are some behind the scene photos from the shoot..

John Valle did Rhian's hair. I love working with John because he's such a down to earth person despite all the projects he's done. He's focused and fast too.

We retouched make up and hair while Xander wasn't shooting. Usually for make up, the nose needs retouching the most because it tends to shine or get oily more than the other parts of the face. For the hair, you want to make sure that it's away from the face at all times. And this is why hairspray is every hairstylist's best friend.

The shoot required us to change the look 3 times. I enjoy changing lipsticks because it's easy and quick. I like to use earbuds to remove what's currently on the lips, apply a sheer layer of clear balm before your next color.

Whoever hasn't heard of Bathina by Benefit is missing out on probably one of the best beauty products that's been created in history. I like to apply a generous amount of Bathina on the arms and legs. When the light hits it, a natural glow is created - a must in every photoshoot.

I was very happy to go to Makati because I would see this along EDSA. I like how sharp and colorful everything came out.
